Read It To Me

Terms of Use

Last updated: October 27, 2026

These terms cover the Read It To Me browser extension and the website readittome.app (“the service”). By using the service you agree to them.

1. The service

Read It To Me reads text aloud: web pages, documents, books and YouTube transcripts. It can also translate what it reads and, if you connect your own AI provider key, use that provider’s voices and summaries. Features may change as we improve them. Reading needs no account.

2. Accounts

An account is optional and is used only to sync your reading data across devices. You must be at least 13 years old to create one. Keep your sign-in email secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.

3. Your content

The texts you read stay yours. We handle them only as needed to read them aloud, translate or summarise them when you ask. We don’t sell your content and don’t use it to train AI models. See the Privacy Policy.

4. Voices and AI

Some voices run on your device. One of them uses the Supertonic model, licensed under the BigScience OpenRAIL-M license; another uses the Kokoro model, licensed under Apache 2.0. You must not use any voice in the service: to break the law; to harm, deceive or harass people; to impersonate a real person without consent; to generate content presented as human-made where that misleads; to give medical advice; to discriminate against people; or for any other use restricted in Attachment A of the OpenRAIL-M license. The same rules apply to every voice in the service.

AI summaries and translations can make mistakes. Check them before you rely on them. Voices and summaries from a provider you connect with your own key are also subject to that provider’s terms.

5. Acceptable use

Don’t misuse the service: don’t try to break it, bypass limits, scrape it, or use it to infringe other people’s rights, including copyright in the texts you read.

6. Availability and changes

We work to keep the service running but can’t promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change these terms; if a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the extension or on this page before it applies.

7. Liability

To the extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” and free of charge, and we are not liable for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law.

8. Third-party components

The extension includes open-source components under their own licenses. The full list is in the extension package (licenses/THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt).
